ILM Model Shop to be Spun-Off

Variety is reporting that Lucasfilm is planning to sell ILM's Model Shop to Mark Anderson, who was a modelmaker there and also served as Director of Physical Production. While the deal is not yet finalized, it would be named Kerner Optical and become a preferred subcontractor for ILM.

ILM Converting The Nightmare Before Christmas to Stereoscopic 3-D

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that ILM is working, under the supervision of Director of CG Colum Slevin, on the scanning and conversion to stereoscopic 3-D of Henry Selick and Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas. The remastered version is expected to be released October 20, 2006.

VFXWorld announced that ILM has opened a new office in Los Angeles, with Joni Jacobson as Executive in charge of Production Marketing. She has previously worked at CIS Hollywood, Digital Domain, Dream Quest Images and Gray Matter FX. The office will also serve clients of Skywalker Sound in the area.
