An article by Variety has confirmed that Tim Alexander is supervising ILM's work in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, with Steve Rawlins supervising animation. VFX Supervisor Pablo Helman is working on The Spiderwick Chronicles with Tim Harrington in charge of animation.

ILM has confirmed that it will be providing VFX for Evan Almighty, directed by Tom Shadyac, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, directed by David Yates, and The Spiderwick Chronicles, directed by Mark Waters. No VFX Supervisors have been confirmed yet.

ILM has provided some VFX work for Justin Lin's The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. The VFX work is also being provided by Hammerhead, Rhythm and Hues, CIS, Cafe FX, Pacific Title and Art Studio, Perpetual Motion Pictures, Hatch, Illusion Arts and ILM, under the overall supervision of Mike Wassel.

Variety is reporting that Lucasfilm is planning to sell ILM's Model Shop to Mark Anderson, who was a modelmaker there and also served as Director of Physical Production. While the deal is not yet finalized, it would be named Kerner Optical and become a preferred subcontractor for ILM.

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that ILM is working, under the supervision of Director of CG Colum Slevin, on the scanning and conversion to stereoscopic 3-D of Henry Selick and Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas. The remastered version is expected to be released October 20, 2006.

A few sites like IMDB and PS3 News are reporting that ILM will collaborate with LucasArts to create the next generation Indiana Jones game for the XBox 360 and PS3.

VFX Supervisor Jim Mitchell and VFX Producer Theresa Corrao have formed their own film company named Door 44 Films in London. Jim Mitchell's last project at ILM was Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire as one of the overall supervisors.

Producer Ian Bryce, who briefly worked at ILM in the late 80s as a Production Manager, has just confirmed that Scott Farrar will supervise the work for Michael Bay's Transformers movie, slated for a 2007 release.

Four ILM projects have been nominated for best VFX for the 32nd Annual Saturn Awards: Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith, War of the Worlds, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Batman Begins and King Kong are also nominated.

This morning Academy President Sid Ganis and actress Mira Sorvino announced the nominations for the 78th Academy Awards. The three nominated movies for Achievement in Visual Effects are: The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, King Kong and War of the Worlds.

The Academy Announced the 7 finalists for the Visual Effects Bake-Off: Batman Begins, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, King Kong, Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and War of the Worlds. The SciTech winners have also been announced.

Two ILM projects have been nominated for the BAFTA (Orange British Academy Film Awards) Best Achievement in Visual Effects: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Also nominated were Batman Begins, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and King Kong.

VFXWorld announced that ILM has opened a new office in Los Angeles, with Joni Jacobson as Executive in charge of Production Marketing. She has previously worked at CIS Hollywood, Digital Domain, Dream Quest Images and Gray Matter FX. The office will also serve clients of Skywalker Sound in the area.

ILM recently completed work on the ESPN movie Code Breakers, directed by Rod Holcomb, based on the cheating scandal a West Point in 1951. C.O.R.E. Digital Pictures also contributed to the VFX work as well.

ILM is currently working on M. Night Shyamalan's Lady in the Water, set to be released July 21, 2006, and Lee Tamahori's Next based on Philip K. Dick's short story The Golden Man, scheduled to be released 2007. Scott Farrar, who recently completed The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe will supervise Next.

Dark Horizons and FilmForce IGN are reporting that VFX Supervisor Eric Brevig will make his feature directing debut with Journey 3-D, an adaptation to Journey to the Center of the Earth.

The Technology Administration, a Federal agency in the Department of Commerce, has recognized ILM with the National Medal Of Technology for over 28 years of innovations in visual effects technology for the motion picture industry.

Cinefex has confirmed that Michael Owens, who had been at ILM since 1981, will be supervising Clint Eastwood's Flags of Our Fathers, based on James Bradley's account of the battle at Iwo Jima. VFX will be provided by Digital Domain under the supervision of Matthew Butler.

ILM did some work on Steven Spielberg's Munich, supervised by Pablo Helman, and Adam Shankman's Cheaper by the Dozen 2.
