Cinefex has apparently confirmed that ILM will work on Stefen Fangmeier's Eragon. The film based on Christopher Paolini fantasy novel and is slated to open in the Summer of 2006. This is Stefen Fangmeier's directorial debut, who previously was a VFX supervisor at ILM.

VFX Supervisor Stefen Fangmeier Leaves ILM, Set to Direct Eragon

Variety has just confirmed that Stefen Fangmeier will be directing Eragon, based on Christopher Paolini's fantasy novel. The movie will start shooting August 1, 2005 in Budapest with newcomer Ed Speleers as the title character. John Malkovich, Djimon Hounsou, and Jeremy Irons are in negotiations for other roles. The film is expected to open June 16, 2006.

Letterman Digital Arts Center Officially Opens

Last weekend George Lucas officially opened the Letterman Digital Arts Center at the Presidio, the new home of ILM, LucasArts and several other Lucasfilm divisions. The 23 acre campus includes a 300 seat digital theater and two 65-seat theaters, 300 10 GB ports and 600 miles of cable with an optic fibre infrastructure.

We recently got confirmation on several projects ILM will be working on. Besides the recently announced The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl in 3D, ILM will be involved in Angela Robinson's Herbie: Fully Loaded, Chris Columbus' Rent, Frank Marshall's Antarctica and Wolfgang Petersen's remake of The Poseidon Adventure. ILM was also involved in Andrew Douglas' remake of The Amityville Horror which was released April 15, 2005.

ILM Involved in Oedipus Short Film

Oedipus is an 8 min. short film directed by Jason Wishnow that used stop motion animated vegetables to tell its epic story. Postproduction was done at ILM under its Independent Projects Program, with VFX supervised by R&D Engineer Alex Suter. The film premiered during Sundance 2004 and has won several film festival awards.
