Cinefex has updated some listings of projects ILM is working in particular Animation Supervisors for several projects. Joining the team for Dreamcatcher will be Daniel Jeannette as Animation Supervisor. David Andrews will be Animation Supervisor for Harry Potter 2. Tom Bertino is supervising animation for Men in Black 2.

Variety is reporting that Paramount Pictures has awarded ILM the FX contract for the film version of Michael Crichton's Timeline. Roger Guyett, fresh from his duties on Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone will supervise. The film will be directed by Richard Donner.

Episode 2 Status and Lucas Digital Nominations at Official Star Wars Site

The official Star Wars site has an update with producer Rick McCallum, who states the ILM has only 450 shots left to do with an average of 50 delivered per week. The official site also has a nice write-up on the nominations that Lucas Digital got: 2 for Visual Effects (ILM for Pearl Harbor and AI) and 2 for Sound Editing (Skywalker Sound for Pearl Harbor and Monsters Inc.).

Today, a little after 5:30 AM Los Angeles time, the nominations for the 74th Academy Awards were announced by AMPAS president Frank Pierson and actress Marcia Gay Harden (who won an Oscar for Pollock, coincidentally an ILM project), at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater. ILM has been nominated for AI Artificial Inteligence and Pearl Harbor.

Supervisors for Dreamcatcher Confirmed

The feature film version of Stephen King's Dreamcatcher has recently begun filming in Canada. The film, to be directed by Lawrence Kasdan, tells the story of four friends, who as children shared an experience that gave them special gifts, who reunite on a hunting trip and end up trying to stop an alien force. ILM was awarded the FX job a few months back and now we get confirmation that Stefen Fangmeier and Tim Alexander will supervise the work.

AI and Potter Nominated for Best Special Effects at BAFTA

BAFTA, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, has just announced their nominees for top 2001 honors. In the film VFX category, two ILM related projects have been nominated: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Rob Legato overall Supervisor, Roger Guyett ILM's Supervisor, and AI Artificial Intelligence, Dennis Muren and Scott Farrar were the Supervisors. The other three nominees are Shrek, Lord of the Rings and Moulin Rouge.
