Apple officially announced Shake 4 at NAB which among it new features includes 3D multi-plane compositing and optical flow-based retiming, and now supports the OpenEXR file format. Adobe also recently released Photoshop CS2 which includes many new features like the vanishing point, more 16-bit aware tools and filters and 32-bit HDR support including the ability to save out in the OpenEXR file format.

Drew Hess, the principal maintainer at ILM of OpenEXR (their high dynamic range format), announced this past Friday the official release of version 1.1. Among the major improvements are tile based and multiresolution format support, support for images larger than 2 GB, and a host of new tools for making tiled images, adding standard attributes and a new previewer among others. There is also a new set of images for testing and a Photoshop plugin.

Release of OpenEXR 1.0.7, Shake 3 Plugin and 3DS Max 6 Support

Drew Hess, principal maintainer of OpenEXR at ILM, has announced the release of version 1.0.7, probably the last in the 1.0.x series. This version introduces new standard attributes like primary and white point chromaticities and absolute luminance. Next version will add support for tiled images. Also released is a plugin for Shake 3 and support for 3DS Max 6 courtesy of SplutterFish.
