Yahoo! Movies and the Apple site have recently posted the first trailers for J.J. Abrams' Mission: Impossible III, supervised by Roger Guyett, and Wolfgang Petersen's Poseidon, supervised by Kim Libreri.
Mission: Impossible III, directed by J.J. Abrams, stars Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Michelle Monaghan, Laurence Fishburne, Keri Russell, Billy Crudup, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Sasha Alexander and Maggie Q. Currently the plot has been kept tightly under wraps. Roger Guyett, who most recently supervised Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Rent, is in charge of this project. Tom Peitzman, usually working as a VFX Producer is also listed as supervisor. It's slated to be released May 5, 2006.
Poseidon, directed by Wolfgang Petersen, is based on the Paul Gallico novel of the same name about a capsized cruise liner and how the few survivors try to get out. It previously helmed by Ronald Neame in 1972. This new version stars Josh Lucas, Kurt Russell, Jacinda Barrett, Richard Dreyfuss, Jimmy Bennett, Emmy Rossum, Mike Vogel, Mía Maestro, Andre Braugher, Kevin Dillon and Freddy Rodríguez. Wolfgang Petersen previously collaborated with ILM in The NeverEnding Story, Enemy Mine and The Perfect Storm. ILM, under the supervision of Kim Libreri who most recently worked on Herbie: Fully Loaded and War of the Worlds, and The Moving Picture Company, under the supervision of Chas Jarrett, are the main VFX providers. Boyd Shermis serves as Overall VFX Supevisor.
Both trailers contain extensive VFX work including a missile attack and enhanced stunt work in Mission: Impossible III and the digital wave, ship and doubles in Poseidon. You can watch them here:
