The Visual Effects Society has updated both their website and the specific one for the VES Visual FX Festival 2002. The festival will take place in San Rafael, CA (current home of ILM), as was announced during the past festival, from June 14 till June 16.
This certainly seems to hint that the content of the festival will have many ILM presentations, probably most from the work done on Episode 2. That was a similar case with the first festival in 1999, which had 4 sessions for the work on Episode 1, one for each unit. Also the regular VES site has a report with photos about an Adobe Achievement Awards ceremony and the VES 2001 Festival. The Adobe event had some notable presenters, like Jon Erland, who worked on the original Star Wars and Close Encounters of the Third Kind, John Nelson, winner of last years FX Academy Award, and FX supervisors Bill Taylor and Jeff Okun. There are also pictures of VES 2001, you can see Dennis Muren, Phil Tippett, John Dykstra, Richard Edlund, The Mummy Returns presenters, the Shrek presenters and the TV commercials Digital Domain panel.
