VFXWorld Covers xXx: State of the Union VFX Work

VFXWorld is running an article detailing the VFX work by ILM for xXx: State of the Union. Associate VFX Supervisor Samir Hoon explains how Washington DC was recreated, given the restriction of shooting there, the use of digital stunt doubles, and the creation of the climatic train chase sequence via CG and miniatures. Most shocking of all is that ILM had to create 254 shots in 3 months.

The article goes a bit into detail of the extensive miniature pyro needed for the work and using camera projection techniques developed for Star Wars Episode III to create the environments the bullet train goes through. You can read the article here:
