VFXWorld.com is running two articles which highlight the most notable VFX projects of 2003, one is a retrospective, while the other is a detailed report of the latest VFX Bake-Off. The latter one also seems to confirm Ed Hirsh is supervising the Mask sequel as it mentions he is on a shoot in Australia.
The retrospective mentions films like Hulk, Terminator 3, Pirates of the Caribbean, the Matrix sequels, X2 and Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. There is a brief commentary by VFX Supervisor Eric Brevig about the possible pitfalls of abundant use of VFX.
The VFX Bake-Off articles contains recaps of all 7 presentations, including comments from Richard Edlund, Dennis Muren, John Knoll, Pablo Helman, Scott Farrar, Stefen Fangmeier, Hal Hickel, Colin Brady, Dan Taylor, Jim Rygiel, Mike Fink, Nathan McGuiness, Mark Forker, Clay Pinney and John Rosengrant among others.
